Buck Creek Plantation completed a forest stewardship management plan in August 2018, which was produced by Mark Richardson of the Alabama Forestry Commission. We
received professional recommendations from the Commission, outlining conditions of the property and management techniques.
Our forest consists of 11 stands of trees, ranging from 7 years to 25 years. We have planted and regenerated trees and were prescribed a 3-year burning rotation. In the summer of 2018,
we applied to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for financial assistance for firebreaks, a chemical site preparation, and the planting of Long Leaf Pine seedlings for
our 70-acre cut over site. In February of 2019, Buck Creek Plantation was certified as a Stewardship Forest. By managing our property, in accordance with stewardship principles, we are helping to ensure the sustainability of Alabama forests. We have completed the fire lanes, chemical site preparation, and burning of the site. In November 2019, the planting process began, as pictured above.
On November 23, 2021, the Alabama Forestry Commission certified us as a Treasure Forest.
Below shows pictures of the Hydro Seeding process that we performed in November, 2019. Hydroseeding (or hydraulic mulch seeding, hydro-mulching, hydraseeding) is a planting process that uses a slurry of seed and mulch.
