Buck Creek trees are good for the environment. One acre of pine trees can annually sequester between 3 and 16 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide). A mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season, as much as 10 people can inhale in a year. A 100-foot tree, 18 inches diameter at its base, produces 6,000 pounds of oxygen. On average, one tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year. Two mature trees can provide enough oxygen for a family of four.
Buck Creek has 2 creeks:
1. Flat Creek runs thru the west side
2. Buck Creek is on east side of property, providing plenty of water for trees and wild life. Trees are great for the environment. We have 11 green fields that are planted each year for the wild life (deer, turkeys, bob white quail). We have trapped 6 coyotes this year, which has protected several wild life species that we have in the area.
Interesting Facts:
We are in the process of planting 70 acres of long leaf pines. Trees are both disease and fire resistant. Since they are harder and stronger wood, they can grow a lot longer lifespan than Lob lolly. Lob lolly contain more dense wood so they are very flammable. Needles can burn off and they still grow. When trees are planted a 2nd year, you actually burn the fields, which helps them grow more efficiently.
